Hello. Lifebabble

My name's Chavala, it's pronounced Har-va-la but most people call me ‘Harvie’, ‘Harve’, ‘Have’ or ‘H’.

I'm a Psychotherapist, offering talking therapies and creative therapies to children and young people across Lancashire. I also work with lots of parents and teachers to help improve their relationships with their children or students.

Aside from my work as a therapist, I work with TV channels and companies, like CBBC to create a TV shows. I've recently worked with Blue Peter for Safer Internet Day, hosting a webchat to offer my take on the viewers dilemmas. I've also worked behind the camera on shows like Marrying Mum and Dad, during the selection process of prospective contribors. Currently, I've just finished filming a show called Lifebabble and we're now in our second series. Hurrah! My role is to advise the team on psychological content and self-help advice, whilst also having a little dabble at presenting too! Lifebabble is so useful to kids and adults-a-like, as we tackle issues that need to be talked about, from bullying to gang culture, stress at school to family fallouts. We even received a nod of approval from the government. Not bad! Take a look at the Lifebabble website by clicking here, where you can find lots of helpful information and videos by me!

In 2014 I took part in a social experiment with survivalist Bear Grylls for Channel 4 in ‘The Island with Bear Grylls’, made by the brilliant Shine TV. Fourteen women were marooned on a desert island, in tropical storm season, for six weeks with only six knives. Yikes! Click here to find out more!

Hello. Chavala2015

A Bit About Me... as a normal, everyday person

I love having fun and laughing. Sometimes I start laughing and I can’t stop; those are the moments I love!

Adventure is something I want to pursue more of (even if it completely terrifies me) so I can see the world, experience new things and meet new people. I guess I want to live my life to the full!

I'm a keen pigeon racer and love wildlife, particularly birds. Yes, you read that correctly. I love listening to most genres of music, but particularly rock and swing music. I adore being creative, whether it's sewing, knitting, drawing or making weird, wonderful things. I tend not to follow the trends but I do enjoy expressing myself through the clothes I wear, and I guess sometimes I have a little bit of an eccentric sense in style. Oh and, of course, I have a love for food. I love to cook... but prefer to eat!

A Bit About Me... as a Therapist

Although I specialise in working with children and young people now, I started out in the counselling world offering therapy to adults. As time's gone by, I've found myself focussing my work on younger clients. I guess the profession found me! Counselling for children and young people stems back decades, but the area is still pretty unknown. It's my goal to help to develop this area of the profession, by getting the word out there and helping others to communicate more effectively with children and young people, whether this be parents, teachers or other professionals!

Since 2009, I’ve worked as a Counsellor across Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside in schools, colleges, universities, a hospice, supported housing and organisations, offering one-to-one and group counselling to children, young people and adults.

In 2014, I finally completed all of my university studies where, over the years, I gained a ...

Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy,
Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy,
Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling and psychotherapy
First-class Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Counselling,
Bachelors Degree in Psychology (Hons).

I do what I do to help other people live happier lives. I want to help clients (regardless of their age) to understand and work through their struggles to enable them to live a full, happy life. Having trained in lots of different areas of therapy over the years helps me to provide the best service to every client. Click here to find out more!
